Cancelled - Aggie Takeover of Capital Factory

Although this event is canceled, stay tuned for another professional development event coming soon that's being planned!

In a reprise of our hugely successful Startup Village Tailgate 2019 at Kyle Field, Startup Grind Bryan-College Station/Aggieland was invited by Deloitte Catalyst and Army Futures Command to jointly organize an official SXSW activation on March 15-16 on the 8th Floor of Capital Factory in downtown Austin. Twenty-five startups with an affiliation to Texas A&M University applied for the Startups-to-Defense Showcase on March 16 and a pitch competition to investors representing Army Futures Command, Boeing Ventures, Deloitte Innovation, DARPA, AFwerx, DOD and DOE, among others. Five startups made the cut:

  • HyperCool (Bran)
  • Essentium 3D (Austin)
  • Ogre Skins (Austin)
  • WiFiber (Utah)
  • RSQ-TOC

Lazarus, a student launched venture from Startup Aggieland and the College of Engineering was selected as Runner-up. Two alternates were also selected:

  • Sea Machines (Boston)
  • ThisWay Global (Austin)

The "Aggie Takeover" of Capital Factory begins on March 14 and is completed on March 17, capped off by a meeting with VC Tim Draper -- who recently met in Silicon Valley with Startup Grind BCS/Aggieland students and mentors visiting for the Startup Grind Global Conference. Startup Grind was founded in 2014 at Startup Aggieland but has grown into an "X Chapter" that serves the greater region.

Please save-the-date of October 10 for our FREE 2nd Annual Startup Village Tailgate!
