2017 Scholarship Recipients

Congratulations to our 2017 Capital City A&M Club Scholarship recipients!
Each student pictured below received $5,000 in scholarship money to Texas A&M. That scholarship money will help to begin their college life at Texas A&M University.

Madeleine Meyer graduated from Cedar Park High School and has been involved with volleyball, yearbook and National Honor Society. Growing up in College Station before moving to Austin for high school, Madeleine is eager to return to Aggieland and embrace her Aggie college experience. She plans to study business management with a minor in communications and envisions pursuing a career as a sports reporter.

Lizbeth Hidalgo graduated from Del Valle High School and has been involved with National Honor Society and Student Council. Lizbeth is excited about the opportunities that await her at Texas A&M and is eager to learn more about the Aggie Traditions that unite Texas A&M. Lizbeth loves animals and plans on spending significant time at Texas A&M by studying Biomedical Science for undergrad and pursuing her doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine.  

Jackson Haynes graduated from McCallum High School and was a team captain of the Knights football team. Jackson is also a talented guitarist and an accomplished Eagle Scout. Jackson plans on studying Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M to advance energy efficiency and create the next advancements in micro-sized equipment. Jackson believes that the prestige of the Dwight Look College of Engineering attracts the brightest minds and he looks forward to learning from faculty and his peers.

Lizbeth Hidalgo graduated from Del Valle High School and has been involved with National Honor Society and Student Council. Lizbeth is excited about the opportunities that await her at Texas A&M and is eager to learn more about the Aggie Traditions that unite Texas A&M. Avery Herron graduated from ripping Springs High School and has been involved with 4-H, the Tiger Marching Band, HOSA, and the Spanish Honor Society. Avery hails from a deep legacy of an Aggie family. Avery believes attending Texas A&M will merge two of her favorite things: Aggie traditions and quality education. She plans on studying Allied Health at Texas A&M and aspires to be a nurse practitioner.

Katherine Overstreet graduated from Westwood High School and has been involved with Drill team throughout high school. She embodies the Aggie Core Value of selfless service and has spent significant time giving back to her local community through various service organizations. Katherine is fascinated by different cultures and the diversity of our world and plans to study International Relations.

Avery Herron graduated from ripping Springs High School and has been involved with 4-H, the Tiger Marching Band, HOSA, and the Spanish Honor Society. Avery hails from a deep legacy of an Aggie family. Avery believes attending Texas A&M will merge two of her favorite things: Aggie traditions and quality education. Fabian Vargas graduated from Crockett High School and has been involved with HOSA-Health Occupation Students of America and track and field. Fabian is the oldest of five siblings and is a trailblazer in being the first member of his family to attend college. Fabian will be studying Microbiology and aspires to attend medical school to become a doctor.

Christina Rose graduated from Westlake High School and has been involved primarily with Dance, Choreography and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Inspired by the television series The West Wing, Christina aspires to someday serve her country by being a voice of a presidential administration within the White House. She has been accepted into the Communications Honors Program.

Lauren Yamthe graduated from Pflugerville Connally High School and was a varsity all-district selection for the Cougar soccer team. Lauren also served as a Class officer and was selected by her peers as Homecoming Queen. Lauren is passionate about math and music and plans on majoring in biomedical engineering and minoring in music composition. Her dream job will involve designing artificial body parts for people in need.

Hayden Pfaff graduated from Vista Ridge High School and has spent the majority of his high school tenure participating in DECA. DECA is a student organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools around the globe. Due to Hayden’s success within DECA, he currently serves as the Texas DECA State President. Hayden has been accepted into the prestigious Business Honors program at Mays Business School.

Hannah McQueen graduated from Cedar Park High School and served as captain of her dance team while also earning academic accolades in five different honor societies. Hannah comes from a family with deep Aggie Roots all the way back to Aggie Class of 1967. Hannah has been accepted into the prestigious University Honors program with an emphasis in studying Dance Science.
